M. S. Simpson was born in Southern California, a fifth-generation Californian, and grew up in "a Disneyland existence, with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, loving parents and early acceptance of my sexuality." At university in England, he cultivated a love for French culture, and now divides his time between France and the U.S. For some years he taught at several prestigious independent schools. His first book, "Kabuki in a G-String," won global acclaim, with notable attention paid to it in France and Australia. A former Fellow of the Library of Congress, with a rare Ph.D. with distinction in Comparative Literature, he brings his personal take on the gay experience as well as an understanding of literature and its power to change lives. He adores his cat, who offers him her feline counsel and provides him with a measure of sanity.
